This is a varied, project-based software engineering role, taking robotics projects from concept to market. You will be responsible for the architecture, development, launch, maintenance and support of robotics applications for genetic research laboratories.
You’ll work with our Science & Marketing Teams to define specifications and pass/fail criteria. You’ll run an agile project to get the work done. You’ll use our in-house Science Team and external laboratories for testing and feedback. You’ll have access to designers for sexy GUI work. You’ll launch in ‘stealth mode’ for customer feedback. You’ll train Science & Marketing for product launch. We’ll all have a party to celebrate shipping another successful product. Then we’ll start again.
Projects include robotics, automation, motion control, IOT, GUI design and more. You’ll get exposure to bioinformatics. There will be travel involved to collaboration partners around the UK and abroad. Lots of opportunity for training and growth with the business.
You will do this as a member of the Research and Development Team, whose tagline is:
“Use all the brains you have, and all that you can borrow”
Through regular project review meetings you will get inspiration and input from other engineers. Conversely, you will add conceptual value and know-how to concurrent projects managed by others.
The work you do will help scientists in laboratories in over 50 countries accelerate their research efforts on global challenges such as cures for cancer and solutions for renewable energies.
