Territory Sales Manager – North America

Are you a charismatic biologist who has a passion for technology? Are you up for travelling internationally, collaborating with world-renowned scientists, and getting hands-on with robots?

You will be making high-value equipment sales to microbial research labs in academia, biotech and pharma across North America. You will help to provide the ever-changing voice of the customer within the business, and crucially, provide front-line biological applications expertise and support to our customers and wider team.

The Reward

The work you do will help scientists in laboratories in over 50 countries accelerate their research efforts on global challenges such as cures for cancer and solutions for renewable energies.

Primary Responsibilities

This is a sales role first and foremost, but you’ll get involved in experimental planning and stay at the forefront of cutting-edge research!

  • Understanding  our customers’ needs (and their science!) and demonstrating scientific and technological solutions, which will achieve their goals.
  • Maintaining and growing North America’s sales pipeline to exceed departmental targets.
  • Responding to customer enquiries and forging strong relationships with labs at the cutting-edge of microbiology research.
  • Representing and communicating the voice-of-the-customer and the needs of the North American market to the rest of the business.

Bonus responsibilities

The Team

You will report directly to the International Sales Manager. You will perform one of the most crucial roles within the Sales team, in charge of >$1 million of annual revenue. You will work especially closely with our wonderful customers and collaborators; our marketing team; the remote sales force – in Singer laboratories across four different time zones; as well as our Customer Success, Strategic, Research, and Product teams to automate science across the globe.


  • MSc, or PhD (preferred) in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Microbiology or a similar field. Will consider superstar BSc applicants too.
  • Confidence & personality.
  • A skilled negotiator.
  • A high level of written and spoken English.
  • Keen traveller.
  • Broad understanding of microbial genetics and genomics, or a similar field.
  • Solid computational skills, particularly databases & spreadsheets.
  • A fantastic ability to organise and prioritise.
  • Both a good team player and independent worker.
  • Enthusiastic, proactive and motivated to succeed.


Starting at:
$45,000 – $60,000

  • Hands-on, practical robotics (or similar technical) experience
  • Experience of having attended an international scientific conference during MSc/PhD training
