Sneaking challenges into scientific talks!

Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn.

Benjamin Franklin

10 brave students embraced the chance to give their first ever talk during The Carl Singer Foundation Session at BYG Manchester. Each had two tasks to ‘hide’ in their presentation.

A huge well-done to Shaun Speldewinde and Yu Zhou (who missed the presentation and received the news in the loo!) both narrowly missing out on winning best talk.

And congratulations to Mariavittoria Pizzinga for her seamless winning integration of Bon Jovi’s Livin’ On a Prayer during her talk on mRNA localisation! Watch the montage of challenges!

Automatic Plate Pourer (Vodka Edition)

Currently the Serial Filler is unavailable. We have received a lot of fantastic feedback and improvement suggestions from existing Serial Filler customers. Rather than investing in the next large Serial Filler production run, Singer Instruments are in the process of considering an improved model.

What do you get when you cross 100 yeast biologists, a fully-automatic plate pourer and a large bottle of vodka?

No we weren’t totally sure either, so we ventured up to see the British Yeast Group in Manchester to find out.
