Our fastest colony picker, and it’s still not enough colonies?
Achieve >68 000 colonies picked over continuous 24 hour runs when integrating PIXL Max with a robotic arm. Imagine what your lab rats could
discover when they trust our 99% transfer efficiency and achieve reliable walk-away colony isolation.

What does a robotic arm do?
The robotic arm facilitates the movement of plates to automate your colony picking workflows.
While plates are in use the arm takes care of de-lidding and storage. When the PIXLⓇ workflow is finished the arm will re-lid and return the plate. If the arm has an in-built barcode scanner it will automatically scan each plate to consistently identify your plates and to facilitate full data traceability.

Integrate with anyone
Every PIXLⓇ is a partner agnostic automation-ready solution from day one. Tested with multiple integration providers, with excellent documentation, and fully-open, accessible API on every unit.

Open API
PIXLⓇ API is open access and easy-to-use for integrated colony picking from day 1. Our API is well documented, with plenty of examples and comes in multiple languages
One of our oldest robot arm partnerships is with Thermo Fisher Scientific’s Spinnaker arm and Momentum software. A reliable and intuitive SBS microplate robot formulated for even the novice automation user to design, set-up and execute automated processes with ease.

Unlock Overnight colony picking
While the lab sleeps, PIXLⓇ picks! Check out the Stanford Genome Technology Centre’s own footage of their PIXL-Spinnaker arm set up working overtime for over 11 hours!
Anaerobic chamber compatible
PIXLⓇ is an easy-to-use and ultra-reliable colony picker with a small footprint that doesn’t rely on compressed air making it the ideal choice for anaerobic research. Integrate PIXLⓇ within an anaerobic Chamber for a hands free high-throughput colony picking workcell in a controlled environment.
Pro tip: Integrating PIXLⓇ with a turntable can allow seamless transition between manual and autonomous operation, when integrated as part of a larger workcell.

“The robotic arm has allowed us to fully automate the colony picking process.
This frees up our staff to focus on other things.”

Wilson Liu, Automation Engineer
Aether Biomachines.
LIMS
Recombia’s PIXLⓇ with a fully automatic door is integrated with a robotic arm to achieve a completely hands free workcell. They used a Lab Information Management System (LIMS) to manage their workflow and achieve maximum efficiency.
